Climate change is very real, but it’s not unchangeable. There are lots of things and lots of ways that you can do to help start reducing carbon footprint in the world.

Here is a list on some of the things you can do to help make a change to our world.

  1. A huge way to help out in reducing your carbon footprint is to ride your bike more and drive your car less. Pretty much all cars give off toxic fumes that are very harmful to life and causes climate change to speed up. You should challenge yourself to drive your car less and ride your bike more because for one you get a workout while riding your bike and for two you also help the environment.
  2. Eat seasonally, locally and eat more plants. Try to buy the majority of your food locally or even grow your own fruit and veg. making the majority of you meals plant based is healthier and better for the planet. Eating seasonal also means eating local, which is grate for the environment. When you support local farmers, you don’t have to worry about how far and long your food has travelled to get to you.
  3. Another really good way to reduce your carbon footprint is to switch to sustainable and clean energy. When fuels are burned it produces very harmful toxins that speed up the rate of climate change. You can help stop this by switching to clean electricity and there are so many ways to do this, for example wind turbines and solar panels, these are just a few examples and there are loads more.
  4. Changing your lightbulbs to economic ones is also a great way to reduce the amount of electricity in your home.
  5. Get to know the five R’s: refuse, reduce, reuse, rot and recycle. You may have heard of the three R’s but there are two more that are as equally as important: reduce and rot. Having zero waste would be a huge step forwards towards getting rid of climate change and practicing the five R’s is a huge way of doing so.
  6. Trendy and cheap items go out of style as quick as they came in and then get dumped into landfills where they sit and decompose and produce harmful toxins. Most fashion comes from big places such as China and Bangladesh. So, shipping all that to around the world requires a lot of fuel. Instead of that you should buy quality clothing that will last you quite a long time. Also buying less things or buying recycled things when possible.
  7. Bringing your own reusable shopping bag to the shop with you is also a good way of reducing pollution.
  8. If possible, try to avoid items with excess packaging.
