There’s something for everyone in Abu Dhabi. From families, couples, and solo adventurers to colleagues and friends, everyone has something to look forward to in the UAE capital.

Zoom in on Yas Island – home of the best adventure parks in the world – and you will see some of the best record-breaking entertainment destinations in the world.

There, you’ll find the Ferrari World – the world’s first-ever Ferrari-branded amusement park. It is also the planet’s biggest climate-controlled indoor theme park and the site for the most expansive space-frame structure.

Of course, this is only a few of the unparalleled features of the Abu Dhabi theme park. Like the F1 race cars from the same brand, Ferrari World also promises to match and fuel your need for speed with the world’s fastest rollercoaster and other thrilling attractions designed for people of all ages.

Below are the top five rides and attractions worth trying in Ferrari World Abu Dhabi:

1.   The World’s Fastest Rollercoaster: Formula Rossa

For those in dire need for speed, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is the place to be, mainly because it is home to the reigning fastest rollercoaster in the world: Formula Rossa.

Formula Rossa is one of the top choices for most adrenaline junkies’ bucket list adventures. With a highest speed of 150 miles per hour in less than five seconds, you’ll surely get your money’s worth (probably more) with the most thrilling rollercoaster ride in the world.

Formula Rossa is designed to simulate what it feels like to ride a Ferrari F1 car. It also lets guests scale jaw-dropping heights of as high as 171 feet.

Take note that guests must be 4.6 feet to 6.4 feet tall to ride the Formula Rossa. For safety reasons, the park also implements a maximum rider weight of 220 pounds and the mandatory wearing of safety goggles.

Here are other tidbits about Formula Rossa:

  • The ride opened on November 4, 2010.
  • It launches using a hydraulic mechanism to reach top speeds in mere seconds.
  • The length of the entire track is 6,562 feet.
  • The train can accommodate four to 16 passengers at a time.

2.   The World’s Highest Rollercoaster: Flying Aces

Besides speed, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi also has something for people who want to defy gravity and reach the highest peak while riding a rollercoaster.

With Flying Aces, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi vows to turn your world upside-down. It comes with an impressive 51-degree incline at a 206.6-foot height reached at a speed of 33.3 miles per hour. Because of that, it has been lauded as the rollercoaster with the highest loop on the planet.

Flying Aces is also known for offering gravity-defying acrobatics, including down flips and a non-inverted loop.

Below are other fun facts about Flying Aces:

  • The ride opened on February 24, 2016.
  • It was inspired by the story of the Ferrari Cavallino logo from Count Francesco Baracca, Italy’s “ace of aces.” The Italian aviator became famous during the 1900s, and his prancing horse emblem was passed down to Enzo Ferrari for good luck.
  • The rollercoaster was designed and manufactured by Intamin Amusement Rides, the same company that made Formula Rossa.
  • The length of the track runs at nearly 5,000 feet.

3.   F1 Race Car Driving Simulation: Scuderia Challenge

Seeking to experience race training like a true-blue Ferrari driver? The Scuderia Challenge is the perfect choice for you.

The Scuderia Challenge is a virtual racing game around the Yas Marina Circuit. In this six-man velocity race, you have complete control over the racing simulator.

It is equipped with 180-degree screens, a steering wheel, and a hydraulic feature that reacts to every twist, turn and bump you see on your screen, giving you a genuine feel of what it’s like to drive on an actual Formula 1 racetrack.

The regular and advanced simulators have a minimum height limit of 52 inches and 60 inches, respectively.

You may also need to secure a slot for the Scuderia Challenge ahead of time as this timed attraction fills up quite fast. To be sure, it’s best to have your spot reserved and spend the waiting time on other rides and activities in the park. You need to arrive at least five minutes before your scheduled ride.

4.   Parallel Racing on Twisting Tracks: Fiorano GT Challenge

If you’re exploring a different way to get your adrenaline pumping without extreme speeds, you should definitely try parallel racing at Ferrari World’s Fiorano GT Challenge. This ride lets you and your friends ride a Ferrari F430 Spider and experience what it’s like to participate in the drag race of a lifetime.

Although this dual racing coaster has more manageable speeds and heights, it offers one special feature that could still meet your thrill needs: fast-paced parallel turns. The twists and turns occurring at 26.5 miles per hour make it as exciting as the rest of the rides – probably even more so when the parallel cars cross paths at several points as if they are about to collide with each other.

Of course, the ride is perfectly safe, with height restrictions set from 52 inches to 78 inches.

5.   Intro to Racing for Kids: Junior Grand Prix, Junior GT, Junior Training Camp

For visitors bringing their kids along, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi offers three race car driving schools to introduce your little ones to the exciting world of racing: Junior Grand Prix, Junior GT, and Junior Training Camp.

Junior Grand Prix

Junior Grand Prix comes with an educational film about race car driving guided by experts. Once they’ve received proper instructions and completed all preparations, they will also get a chance to test their skills on the racetrack.

For this attraction, the minimum height requirement is 43 inches.

Junior GT

Another kids’ race driving school, Junior GT lets kids ride a Ferrari 430 GT Spider and watch a film on the wonders of racing. This school also teaches navigating around roundabouts and stoplights and explains the different meanings of road signs.

The minimum height requirement for the experience is 55 inches.

Junior Training Camp

Meanwhile, the Junior Training Camp employs a slightly different approach to racing education. Instead of road experience, it hones practical skills every racecar driver needs – agility and problem-solving.

Children of all ages can enjoy this attraction. Older kids can climb three walls and youngsters are set to pass through low-suspension bridges.

Unaccompanied children can enjoy this activity if they reach the minimum height requirement of 47 inches.

The Ride of Your Life

A brand well-known in the racing and automobile industry, Ferrari is now also famous for some of the most thrilling attractions in the world. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is home not only to the world’s fastest and tallest rollercoasters, but also to rides and attractions that everyone in the family will surely love.
