We all want our events to be as memorable as possible. But, unfortunately, parties have become a constant line of one-upping our friends in creativity and over-the-top drama until many people find that they’re not sure where to go next.

Celebrities can add an interesting edge to any event: so how could one work for you?  These are the top things to consider when hiring a celeb for your event.

What’s The Importance of this Event?

What type of event are you holding?  Is this a retirement party for a neighbor or your wedding?  Different events have different levels of importance, and whether or not you should hire a celebrity heavily depends on how badly you want this party to be memorable.

Beyond them being a celebrity, not every party needs a host for it to succeed.  Do you need someone to guide the party as it goes on?

What’s Your Budget?

Celebrities aren’t cheap.  If you’re trying to hire a star, you’ll have to pay thousands for even a B-lister.  Celebrities like Nicki Minaj and Shakira each charge hundreds of thousands for a short visit, while longer ones can completely bankrupt those throwing the party.

Consider your budget carefully and how much you can reasonably afford to invest in this event.  If the celebrity is vital to the party, and others agree, consider crowdfunding so that you can save up enough to hire the person you want.

How Soon Is It?

Most celebrities require at least a three-month warning before any event.  Try to wait no longer than six months before the event so that you can ensure they’re available and you grab them first.  If the celebrity agrees, you’ll more than likely have to pay a large deposit ahead of time, if not the entire amount.

This will be one piece of the party off of your plate so that you can focus on better things!  If the party is within the next couple of weeks, you’ve missed your chance and should probably go for a celebrity impersonator instead.

How Many People Are Attending?

How many guests are you expecting to attend the event?  Although it may seem nice to have a small gathering so that the celebrity can stand out, the cost per person attending would be astronomical.

Try to aim for a party of at least fifty but less than two hundred people to hit a happy medium.  This will ensure there are enough people to get the most out of the celebrity without leaving them overwhelmed like they’re hosting a concert.

What Type of Celebrity Do You Want?

Consider the type of celebrity you want.  Do you need a singer who can perform the birthday person’s favorite song?  Or do you want an actor to host the party like it’s an award show?  Consider your options carefully.

Although you could hire a singer like Ariana Grande to host the party as a personality, her skills are clearly put to better use if you hire her to sing rather than host.
