Christmas is about happiness, gifts, and celebrations. We love to do all that but you know who doesn’t like celebrating Christmas? The Grinch! Do you know how the Grinch hates Christmas and all the festivities that come with it? Yeah, right. People like us love to celebrate Christmas by wearing festive Christmas Outfits and being nice to each other, giving gifts, and spreading love. Whereas the mean Grinch doesn’t want to celebrate Christmas, in fact, he doesn’t want any of us to celebrate it either. That is why the Grinch has been hiding some of the facts about Christmas and Santa Claus. 

Let us hide this from the Grinch and tell you some of the facts about Santa Claus. 

  1. Real Father Christmas

Before Santa Claus, that person was known as St Nicholas who was a bishop of Myra in Turkey. The kind man was known as the anonymous person who used to give gifts to everyone. He used to give dowries for poor girls and give other cherishing gifts to children to spread happiness. He used to help the poor and needy anonymously. He used to leave coins in children’s shoes just for them to wake up in the morning and find them – that made them happy. 

  1. Coca-Cola created Santa Claus

Many people believe that Coca-Cola created Santa Claus. The idea of Santa Claus was established centuries ago. He was dressed in different colors at first including purple, blue, brown, and green. It was only till the 1800’s that Coca-Cola gave Santa Claus a permanent red color and was internationally exposed in 1931 as Santa Claus in red. Haddon Sundblom, a very talented artist illustrated Santa Claus for his new Coca-Cola campaign. 

  1. Single or Married?

If you think Santa was single, you might be wrong. Santa Claus was a loving and kind husband. The illustration of his wife was mentioned in 1949 in a short story called A Christmas Legend by James Rees. After the mention, the name Mrs. Claus was mentioned in many stories and tales. Katherine Lee Bate’s 1889 poem popularized the character of Mrs. Santa called Goody Santa Claus on a Sleigh Ride. 

  1. 31 Hours?

Did you know it took Father Santa Claus about 31 hours to deliver all the Christmas gifts to the sleeping children? Well, thanks to the different time zones – he is always successful at what he does. Santa travels approximately 510,000,000 km on Christmas Eve and delivers happiness to people. 

  1. Santa in a Store

It’s amazing how every store has a Santa and kids go crazy to meet him and tell him their wishes. The tradition started 123 years back when a businessman called James Edgar decided to dress up as Santa and sit in the Massachusetts Department Store. Families get excited to have their kids meet Santa Claus and have a moment of happiness. 

  1. Fat Santa

Ever noticed why Santa is always so fat? Well, it is because he stuffs himself with all the delicious treats that people leave outside for him when he delivers the gifts. People from all around the world leaves all kinds of different stuff for him like cookies and milk, beers, mince pies, letters, and a lot more such stuff. Santa doesn’t want to leave all that love behind. So, he stuffs them in and leaves for his next destination. 

  1. The Gifts and his Sleigh

Well, we know how Santa delivers gifts to nice kids – so imagine all 500,000 kids asking for action figures, the Santa would have to have a very strong and sturdy sleigh to carry all that weight, no? So, this Christmas let’s all be good kids to make sure that we’re on Santa’s good-boy list and get all our desired gifts. 

Also, kids – if you want to make things easier for Santa, don’t ask for heavy stuff like a mountain bike. How is he going to carry it on his sleigh, eh?

  1. Jesus and Santa

The concept of Jesus and Santa doesn’t go that well together. As we all call Santa as the Father – Jesus says that there is only one father who is waiting for us in heaven. Well, there are different beliefs and perspectives – so let’s not get into that right now. 

  1. Santa Claus Post Code

Did you know that if you send Santa postcards with his postal code on it, they’ll reach him must faster? Yes! That’s true. If you want to send him a letter make sure to include his postcode i.e. HOH OHO. Let’s make sure our wishes reach Santa safely. 

  1. Santa in summers

When Santa isn’t preparing for Christmas and gifts, do you know what he’s doing? Well, he’s chilling his time in Florida. Well, we’re not sure but there was this one time in Florida when a man who looked similar to Santa was approached by Walt Disney Staff and asked if he’s Santa to which he replied that he’s not who we think he is and asked the staff to leave him alone. 

Conclusion

Father Christmas is one of the most important figures in our lives. He spreads happiness and joy to people and doesn’t even take the credit for it. This Christmas, let us be good people with kind hearts so Santa would give us a gift too along with his blessings.
