So, like any other bride, I had a lot of ideas for my dream wedding in my mind. On top of everything, I always envisioned having a destination wedding. That is why when I had to make a decision about our wedding venue, we chose the most romantic location on the planet, a beach wedding.
Was My Beach Wedding Perfect?
Well, not everything was perfect, but I was okay with it. You need to understand there are a few cons to having a beach wedding; hence you need to plan every element carefully, as discussed below.
1. Choosing the Wedding Attire is Tricky:
For starters, the wedding dress for beach should be picked really carefully. I chose a flowy gown as I wanted it to flow with the wind. I also ensured that the length of my dress was till ankle so that I did not have to drag it along on the sand. In my mind, I had envisaged perfect wedding photos with the wind blowing my dress in the right direction, but that did not happen. It looked more chaotic than ideal, which irritated me a bit there. But now, when I see the wedding album, I smile, looking at those images as it only showcases how eventful the day was.
Another thing I did not consider was that I always wanted a veil, so I went ahead and got one. It became so messy due to the winds that I had to take it off my head during my vows. You will have to consider some small things if you plan a beach wedding.
2. Choose Your Footwear Wisely:
I have always loved comfortable footwear, so I was okay with wearing flats. If you love your heels, you will have to skip those on your beach wedding venue, as heels just cannot be worn on the sandy beach.
3. The Weather Can get Unpredictable:
The only thing I was anxious about the whole time was the weather. Rain had been predicted on my wedding day, so we had to rush through the ceremony before the rain started. It did drizzle a little when we exchanged vows, but it made my wedding more romantic. This is an issue with an outdoor wedding. You just cannot predict the weather. Covering the venue is not an option for beach weddings. Hence, choose a beach wedding when you are absolutely sure there would be no rains.
Is a Beach Wedding for Everyone?
Do I regret my decision? Well, not at all, as it was the most magical day of my life. My wedding was not perfect, but the imperfections made the day more special and memorable. But having said that, a beach wedding is not for every bride. You have to make a few compromises to get married on the beach. But if you are okay with all the cons of a beach wedding, then I assure you, your wedding will be nothing less than a dream come true.
