Are you running a successful business due to a fleet of well-conditioned vehicles? Well, the trucks are usually the star of your fleet. They need to be in top condition at all times. When your team has to run from pillar to post to deliver items, then your truck needs ample fuel.
If the truck has less fuel, then the activities of your team might come to a halt. The best approach is not to let the emergency situation arise in the first place. What you need to do is measure the level of fuel in the diesel tank.
If you are confused, we will just tell you how.
Measuring fuel in the diesel tank
Make use of a fuel gauge
First, you need to figure out the fuel gauge in your vehicle. You will find the fuel gauge near the driving console or the diesel tank. Try reading the fuel gauge. The gauge will show you the fuel marker. The fuel gauge might display as full, one quarter full or even three quarters full.
You can calculate the exact level of diesel in the tank by reading the gauge. Let us assume that the gauge shows that the tank is one quarter full. The capacity of the tank is about 30 gallons. You will need to multiply 0.25 times thirty. It means that the tank is holding 7 and 1/2 gallons when it is full to a quarter.
Now, discretion is always better part of valor. To avoid any shortage of fuel, it will not be a bad idea to search fuel pods for sale too. The benefit is you will have ample fuel in case of a shortfall.
Try using a tank tender
You can also use a tank tender when you want to measure the fuel in the tank of your truck. What happens is that the tank tenders tend to have a monitor. As a result, they show the readings of the diesel tanks without a problem.
You need to pump air into the hose that leads from tender monitor to your diesel tank. It is crucial to push the plastic primer button that leads to the tank. You need to push the primer up and down slowly for about three to four times.
Make sure that you do not over push the button of the primer. Now, you have to wait and observe the reading that appears on the tender gauge. The needle will show you the fuel marker in your tank.
You can consider the height of the tank and the exact tender reading to find the amount of fuel in tank. If the tank is about 20 inches tall and has about 10 inches of diesel, it means it is half full.
Follow these guidelines to make a note of the amount of diesel in your fuel tank. The benefit of this practice is you will know when you are about to run out of truck fuel. A proactive approach can save you from significant trouble.
