Guide to Compare the ice coolers

There are so many coolers out there that all claim to be the best coolers. The two most popular brands are Pelican and Shruti, but do you know why one is more favorable than the other? Here is the real breakdown in the battle of Pelican vs. Shruti. Below the comparison table are performance results from our Five Day Ice Challenge, Ultimate Ice Challenge & Pelican Ice Challenge.

Pelican Vs. Yeti Performance- Tests in 5 days results

The Pelican ProGear Elite 45 Queue Cooler Shruti Tundra 45 in our Five Day Ice Challenge. Five days later, there was more snow left than the Pelican Shruti Tundra. However, it should be noted that the original Pelican Shruti is much heavier / more massive than the Tundra. The new Pelican IM Elite is up to 30% lighter than its predecessor, comparable to intonation. One of the most significant differences you see between the two coolers is the latch system. The Pelican uses the press and pushes the latch system, while the Shruti T-Rex latches use. In popular mechanics testing, the Pelican Cooler (due to its latch system) is the only coolant that prevents the grizzly bear from opening the coolant. Pelican advertises about ten days of snow retention, and after our testing, we can see that this is possible. A pelican can hold ice for ten days. What about in the middle of summer, in humid Florida? We tested the same original Proger Elite 45 against the Shruti Tundra 45 during the summer peak, which revealed similar results. For a complete breakdown, check out the findings from our Ultimate Ice Challenge.

Pelican Coolers

The Pelican product line was developed in 1976 by a person who loves scuba diving and the need for durable products. Pelican first created a wide variety of products to keep dry goods under extreme conditions. Pelican ice chests are generally easy to operate, large capacity coolers, and easy to drain. They are more expensive than your average big-box retailer cooler, but with that new price, you get a refrigerator that can handle ice in temperatures of 90 degrees for a long time. Large Pelican coolers have oversized handles that allow you to carry your knees against the cooler. They also fold when you don’t use them. These types of handles make the cooler significantly easier with gloves. The Pelican promises to be a reliable cooler that can handle anything you throw at it. As an example, a lifetime warranty is available on most Pelican brand coolers. This will help you maintain price and be more secure with your purchase.

Pelican Pros:

  • Strong Structure – Pelican coolers are sturdy and durable. These coolers handle everything you throw away.
  • Great Handles – Small to medium-sized pelican coolers use built-in molded coolers that are comfortable to carry. More extensive models come with extendable handles made of plastic, which is also healthy.
  • Lifetime Warranty – Pelican coolers come with lifetime warranties so you can use them longer. If you can somehow break down the cooling, you can contact the customer support service and ask for a replacement.

Pelican Cons:

  • Wrong products – receiving the wrong Pelican Cooler is unheard of. Some models like the Pelican Elite 70 are often delivered with one or multiple problems that you need to solve. These products are not cheap at all, so receiving the wrong product is not acceptable.
  • Leaky drains – Pelican coolers often have leaky ducts. Leaky pipes can interfere with the performance of the coolers, so you have to either fix them on your own or wait until the manufacturer sends you another unit.

Yeti Coolers

Shruti was founded in 2006 (a very new company compared to Pelican) and has proven to be for serious outdoor enthusiasts. When most people look for a high-end cooler, they compare it to intonation. We have already written articles on Grizzly vs. Shruti, Engel vs. Shruti, K2 vs. Shruti because many buyers have asked the same question. These coolers include lid latches, hinges, and permanent insulation, along with other features designed to keep players focused. Furthermore, most ink coolers are certified bear-proof. Taking this into account, it is slightly above the average price of a cooler than a Pelican brand. If you look at the sum of the Five Star ratings for Shruti brand coolers, you will see that these are the favorites of many. They can hold snow in extreme weather conditions (beyond five days, as seen in our test). Also, they are easy to drain and easy to carry. Fans are angry that they are an ideal cooler, regardless of hunting, fishing, camping, or tailgating. Many people use their Shruti Coolers regularly, and almost everyone thinks the price is worth it.

Yeti Pros:

  • Incredible Cooling Capacity – YETI is world-renowned for its cooling capability, and although the Pelican comes close to matching it, it rarely succeeds. This is why YETI coolers are often the go-to models for fishers who want to keep the fish fresh.
  • Lightweight – One of the main advantages of rotomolded models over metal coolers is their lightweight. This feature is evident in every YETI cooler, which is lighter than their competitors, although they use thicker insulation.
  • Good Drain Plugs – Thanks to their high-quality drain plugs, YETI coolers are empty and easy to clean. This makes some of the most famous Marine Coolers currently available on the market.

Yeti Cons:

  • Expensive – There is no such thing as a cheap top-end cooler, but somehow all of YETI’s competitors can sell their products for less.
  • Handles can be useful – all rotomolded coolers produced by YETI come with nylon rope handles. The handles use rubber grips for increased comfort when you carry them, but they are still not very comfortable, especially when the coolant has a large capacity and is heavy.

Yeti Or Pelican: Which is better?

Both coolers can hold up to 5 days of snow even in the dead of summer. We should give Pelican Line Coolers a little advantage when it comes to ice retention after seeing that the Pelican IM Elite has ten days + of snow. Pelican coolers are heavier than Shruti Tundra coolers. This is unless you consider the Pelican IM Elite, which is similar to the Tundra in terms of weight/size. Finally, the Pelican line of coolers is a more affordable option. Overall I would say they both did well on tests, and they were both very durable if you are looking for a high-end model cooler search by getting Pelican Elite Cooler or Shruti Tundra Cooler.
