One of the most important aspects of gift-giving is the gift’s wrapping and presentation. Even if the gift you’re giving is incredible, it will be dulled down by bland or rushed wrapping.
To wrap a gift beautifully, you don’t have to be an expert. You don’t even have to own frills or decorations; you simply need to know how to tie a bow with a ribbon.
Ribbon bows are a tasteful way of finishing off a gift’s wrapping. They show that you care and they boost the gift’s presentation tenfold. If you don’t know how to tie a bow with ribbon, we’re going to show you right here. Just keep on reading to become a gift-wrapping expert!
Ribbon Texture
When wrapping a gift, it’s important to consider the ribbon’s texture before you start making a bow.
Some materials are easier to work with than others. Plastic, cloth, and satin products are all easily pliable, but metal or twine ribbons might not be as much. Be sure to select a ribbon that feels like it will be easy to tie with your fingers!
Ribbon Color
The color of the ribbon you select for your gift’s tie is also extremely important. It should be a color that compliments the hues in the wrapping paper or an accent color that brings an air of sophistication.
For instance, if you choose a neutral color (like white, cream, beige, tan, or brown), use a gold or silver ribbon. This will keep things simple and elegant.
On the other hand, if your gift wrapping is full of colorful characters or words, select a ribbon that is one of the colors that is present. This will keep things fun yet cohesive.
Tying a Bow
Now that you’ve selected what ribbon you’re going to use, it’s time to finally tie the bow. Follow these instructions to get that perfectly seamless bow every time!
First, use scissors to cut the base ribbon about 5” long (you can cut the ribbon a little longer if the gift box is larger!) and cut notches at the end of each ribbon. You can cut these notches by folding the ends of the ribbon lengthwise and cutting at a 45-degree angle up and towards the center of the ribbon.
Then, get another piece of ribbon about 1.5 longer than the first ribbon and bend it into a circle and use glue to secure it. Next, fold the circle in half and put it on top of the first base ribbon.
Then, cut a small section of ribbon that’s long enough to wrap around the middle of the first and second ribbon. Use glue to secure this small piece and voila!
Now You Know How to Tie a Bow With Ribbon
Using a ribbon is an easy way to boost your gift’s overall presentation, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t add one to your next gift’s wrapping! Now that you’re aware of how to tie a bow with a ribbon, you can wow all of your gift recipients with more than just the item inside.
