As we all know, school is back in business some do e-learning, some go in person but it is quite a bit different than last year. Every school will have a new policy in order to prevent COVID-19 from spreading even more. Because it is in every parent’s interest to keep their family safe, here is a COVID-19 safety checklist you can follow and keep people safe this school year.

Never Send Kids to School Sick

The most impact wins as a parent is never to send your child that has any of the symptoms back to school. Even if it’s one simple symptom, you should never put other people at risk until you are one hundred percent sure that it is not COVID-19. Because your child won’t always come to you and tell you their nose is runny or they think they have a fever, you will need to make a daily routine. Your morning routine before they go to school should consist of checking their temperature and making sure they don’t have any other symptoms.

They Need to Have Their Own School Supplies

In some schools, it is normal that the school provides them with supplies. Because it is in no one’s interest to continue spreading COVID-19, every child should have their own supplies. Tell your children that they can’t share their supplies with others because it can spread the virus. Even though it can be hard to explain that to your little ones, it is very important that you explain to them why that needs to be that way.

Pack Them Hand Sanitizer

Even though it is much safer to have your children do online classes, in some places, that are just not possible. Schools that do in-person classes are trying to reduce the number of children in the classroom as best as they can. Because you can’t have kids not going to school, you as a parent need to do everything in your power to keep them safe. One thing that you can do is send them to school with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and teach them how to use it.

Always Have a Supply of Masks on Hand

As we all know, the new must-have supply for this school year is a protective face mask. Every child needs to have at least two masks with them while in school in case one gets dirty or something happens to it so they can immediately put on a new one. Because children can easily be overwhelmed by having to wear a mask for the whole school day, it’s good to practice wearing them little by little out of school. It is important that you introduce them to masks before having to have them on for the whole school day in order for them to feel comfortable.

Keep Your Home Safe by Creating a Back-from-school Protocol

Something that is just as important during COVID-19 as wearing a mask and keeping their hands sanitized is having a sanitizing protocol when they come back home. When they return from school, they need to sanitize their hands. Once their hands are clean, you will need to sanitize all of their clothes and shoes, as well as their backpack and supplies that they have in it.

Try Not to Become Overwhelmed

During these extremely tough and scary times, it is important that you don’t become overwhelmed and pass it on to your children. As a parent, your children are copying your mindsets and going off of your beliefs. Even if you are scared and stressed out over this scary pandemic, you shouldn’t let your children see that. Do your best to have an optimistic but safe mindset and attitude. While they are reacclimating to school and new ways of living, be patient with them and instead of scaring them with facts, try to explain how they should behave and what they need to do to keep everyone safe.

We are living in a global pandemic and it is scary no matter how old you are. With all that in mind, you will have to have a lot of patience with your children while going back to school. Once you have done your research on all the essentials your child needs and get in a routine, everything will be a little less stressful.
