Feeling anxious in stressful situations is normal. Feeling overwhelmed for short periods of time isn’t as bad as you might think. But what if this feeling of anxiety continues? Because there’s a global pandemic and the end doesn’t seem close? It’s common to feel some sort of anxiety during certain periods. But it can’t take over your whole life or mental health.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and anxious during lockdown, you’re not alone. It’s a very normal feeling to have. In some cases is seems helpful by keeping the virus at bat. Research during past pandemics show clearly that people who are more anxious, are less likely getting the virus. Just because they’re much more careful.

When were speaking about mental health, anxiety can take it’s toll. That’s why it’s important to get grip of some practical ways to cope with periods of anxiety during lockdown.

Understanding the source of your anxiety

Firstly, it’s important to understand the source of your anxiety. Some people feel their anxiety is being fuelled by relying on “Dr Google” or reading social media. Being aware of these behaviours and replacing them with things that will make you feel more stable and happy, is a great way to cope with anxiety. Don’t go on the internet when you feel anxious already. Keep the television off. Just talk with people you love, go for a long (social distanced) walk or create some delicious things in the kitchen.

In need for a real stress-reliever and enjoying time with your partner at home 24/7? Try to surprise each other. A little bit of spice in the bedroom could be a huge stress-reliever. Use sex toys, take extra time to please one another and enjoy. This will help tremendously.

Keep in contact with loved ones

While social distancing is probably the most popular word in 2020/2021, there’s a fault most of us don’t notice. Social distancing isn’t necessary. It’s not social distancing, it’s distancing on a physical level. You can’t be physical in touch with the people you love. But that doesn’t mean you can’t talk or socialize in any other way. Be creative. Send emails, plan Zoom meeting with the whole family or enjoy an ordinary phone call. There are many things you can do to enjoy time with the people you love.
