Big Bash League Season 1 (2011-12) Champion – Sydney Sixers
Sydney Sixers won the BBL trophy last year. But, do you know, they were also the first team to win BBL’s title in the first season?
Both Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers appeared in the final match. And Perth Scorchers while batting first scored a team total of 156, which Sydney chased easily at the loss of 3 wickets only.
Big Bash League Season 2 (2012-13) Champion – Brisbane Heat
Perth Scorchers once again appeared in the final of the BBL league. But, fate was not by their side this time again, as they were defeated by the Brisbane Heat.
Brisbane while batting first made a total of 167, which was a pretty chasable target. But, Perth Scorchers failed to reach that target and could only make 133. Nathon Lyon of Brisbane Heat was the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling.
Big Bash League Season 3 (2013-14) Champion – Perth Scorchers
After losing the final twice, Perth Scorchers finally won their first BBL trophy. They appeared in the finals against Hobart Hurricanes and while batting first, they scored a surprising 191 at the loss of 4 wickets.
Later, with a strong bowling line-up, they restricted the opponent Hurricanes to 152 only. Shaun Marsh was the highest run-getter of the match with his whopping 63 runs.
Big Bash League Season 4 (2014-2015) Champion – Perth Scorchers
During the BBL league season 4, Perth Scorchers consecutively won the BBL final for the second time. They were the defending champions against Sydney Sixers.
Sydney while batting first scored 147/5 and Perth Scorchers calmly chased the target at their last ball. Shaun Marsh once again was the highest run-getter of the match. Also, he bagged, Man of the Match this year.
Big Bash League Season 5 (2015-16) Champion – Sydney Thunder
In the final match of this season, Sydney Thunder met Melbourne Stars. While batting first, Stars set a target of 176/9 which Sydney Thunders chased at the loss of 7 wickets, bringing home their first BBL trophy. Usman Khawaja was Man of the Match for his brilliant 70.
Big Bash League Season 6 (2016-17) Champion – Perth Scorchers
Once again in the BBL final, the two great teams faced each other. And just like season 4, Perth Scorchers named victory to themselves.
Sydney while batting first made 141 at the loss of 9 wickets. And Perth Scorchers easily chased the target with 4 overs remaining and 9 wickets to falls. Jhye Richardson was Man of the Match for his 3 wickets.
Big Bash League Season 7 (2017-18) Champion – Adelaide Strikers
It was the second time for the Hobart Hurricanes to reach the final. While the first time for the strikers. However, Adelaide Strikers put up a good show from the very beginning with winning the toss.
Strikers decided to bat first and made a total of 202 for Hurricanes to chase. All thanks to Jake Weatherald for his brisk 155 off 70 balls. But, Hobart Hurricanes could only make up to 177. Eventually, Adelaide Strikers won their first BBL trophy.
Big Bash League Season 8 (2018-19) Champion – Melbourne Renegades
During the BBL league season 8, Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars met in the finals. Renegades while batting first scored a total of 145/5.
And victory was so close to Stars as they were just about to reach the target. But, their batting lineup collapsed when they lost 7 wickets for 19 runs only. In the end, Stars could only make 132. This resulted in Melbourne Renegades winning their first BBL trophy. Daniel Christian was the Man of the Match.
Big Bash League Season 9 (2019-20) Champion – Sydney Sixers
In the BBL’s 9th season final, the first season champions_ Sydney Sixers met Melbourne Stars. It was the third time for the stars to appear in the finals and they had title to their name yet.
Unfortunately, Melbourne Stars once again lost the final by 19 runs handing over the trophy to the Sydney Sixers. Josh Philippe of the Sydney Sixers was Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.
Big Bash League Season 10 (2020-2021) Champion – Sydney Sixers
This time once again, the league’s most favorite and successful teams met in the final. And the result was as usual. Sydney Sixers took home their 3rd BBL trophy defeating Perth Scorchers by 27 runs.
Sydney Sixers while batting first pilled up a total of 188 at 6 wickets. And then the team’s bowlers and fielders put up a good show for the spectators. The bowlers’ performance at the death overs was to talk about, especially Dan Christian, who took 2 wickets in the last over.
