Gaming

When it comes to game branding, Atari is amongst the most iconic out there and just gaming recognition isn’t enough as they invest in a range of blockchain scheme that will turn this enterprise of gaming into a crypto beast that is going to tear up the current standard and help civilization towards a better online gaming future. Hold on, a new blockchain division is coming and It has got Atari’s name all over it.

Atari is all in on blockchain gaming division

Having only just announced that Atari will be creating its own crypto-based casino within the Decentraland platform, they now announce that the company will be split in two forming a gaming operation and one that looks over the blockchain sector. This is ground-breaking news that will soon lead other major brands to do the same thing.

In a company press release, Atari confirmed that Atari Gaming will now operate the gaming end of their business, whilst Atari Blockchain will run all things crypto. This includes the management of the new Atari Token that is now on the market.

The Atari Blockchain

This brand-new wing of the operation will overlook all the crypto-related business that has assets own or traded under the Atari brand. The new Atari Token or the ATRI as it will be sold as actually began in creation back in 2018. After two years of planning this expansion and in 2020, on November 12th, the Token was available for investors and gamers to purchase. So, yes, right now on many of the leading crypto stock platforms, you can find ATRI and make a solid investment that will tie into the future of online gaming and cryptocurrencies.

The Token can be traded for cash, just as bitcoin can, or ultimately, you will use this Atari Token to buy credit within the Atari Casino on Decentraland. This Token will evolve along with online possibilities and will be incorporated into the Atari VCS ecosystem.

This is fun stuff and if you didn’t know of the Atari Casino coming, then let us give you a breakdown of this new virtual wonder.

Atari Casino

As recent as March, Atari told the world of its plans to launch an online crypto casino that would be based within the metaverse platform of Decentraland. The Decentraland ecosystem is built on the Ethereum currency and acts as virtual real estate, you can buy a piece of Decentraland and place your one business on it. The whole thing is borderline insane, but also so genius that at that point of realizing its full functionality and potential, you’ll be kicking yourself that you didn’t buy into the idea sooner.

Atari purchased some virtual land and will now be showcasing their own crypto casino with classic video games included along with Atari NFT’s (Non-Fungible Tokens).

NFT’s have been big business for artists and businesses already with art selling for billions and with musicians selling albums and art under the guise of NFT’s that are seen by many hugely profitable investments.

Atari producing NFT’s will appeal to a huge gaming audience that will clamber to be the sole owner of limited edition NFT’s which are essentially images with unique codes that, for one reason or another carry value, because despite the art being easily copied, the ownership of the coding is what is essential.

The casino is the huge drive of this, having dabbled in the crypto world prior to this news, with investments in the crypto Sandbox, which is an Ethereum VR game, Atari can see the colossal potential that it has, and its value is not only that of the crypto business which is the casino but the virtual land it is built on will also gain value as the years pass.

So, how does a crypto casino like Atari’s fit into the current world of online casinos? We spoke with the Editor-in-Chief at Norskonlinecasino, her name is Ingerlise Dalen and we asked her if there is any room online for crypto casinos?

“Crypto and casino are interesting topics because the ideas seem so far away, yet they are here with us right now. There are currently about 3 or 4 specialist crypto casinos online right now that specialize in the payment service. There are also a greater number of normal casinos that do accept crypto as payment, but this is converted into dollars and players win dollars back and they aren’t really tailored for bitcoins and the rest. The demand is not high right now, we look after online casinos in the Norwegian market and those with bitcoin aren’t spending them so there is no real demand for them, however, because they can accept traditional money, they are still able to function as a business.  There is room for them, it may take some time for casinos to adapt payment services or for specialist sites to be built but most definitely crypto is the way forward in finance and that what casinos are interested in.”

Atari Gaming

Having understood that the Atari blockchain will become the new online platform for crypto integration, where does that leave the Gaming end of the Atari empire?

Well, there is most certainly going to be an overlay of new games being brought into the crypto platform. Their press release further commented that Atari will continue to develop free mobile games and will push their console and PC gaming into the modern era and revitalize old classics, whilst bringing new single-player games, games with campaigns and multiplayer online games.

The roadmap ahead for Atari looks healthy, it is certainly a bold move to make to step into an industry that is still finding its feet, but there is no denying that crypto is the way forward. Sites like Decentraland offers up appealing gaming and interaction which will be huge over the next 10-years.

What do we know so far about the Atari Casino? Well, here are some snippets of information released by Atari last week that keeps us all in the loop:

  • They have received their license for casino and lottery gaming which will be played with virtual currency.
  • They have received licensing for real money gambling within casino and lottery games.
  • Under the partnership of the ICICB, they can provide casino and lottery gaming in crypto currency.
  • Licensing has been granted for eSports betting.

Those that know anything about eSports betting should now be able to imagine how this will all look and work. Imagine the future of iGaming online when you have a virtual world, integrated with hundreds of thousands of avatars playing inside a virtual casino, playing games and taking part in eSports tournaments.

This is the future right now.
