Adrian Grenier Joins Conversation about Green Bitcoin

Known environmental activist and United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador Adrian Grenier has joined the conversation about achieving a green Bitcoin that everyone in the world can benefit from during the recently held CoinGeek Conference in New York.

Grenier, who starred in hit shows such as HBOā€™s The Entourage and Netflixā€™s Clickbait, is also the co-founder and Chief Experience Officer of impact firm DuContra Ventures, which ā€œbrings bring investors, entrepreneurs and thought leaders together to create a yield beyond money (YBM)ā€ through sustainable means.

ā€œIā€™m afraid to say, ā€˜Iā€™m no expert, early adopter, maybe.ā€™ But I just feel lucky to be on this stage with such brilliant minds. These guys are innovating and creating; and Iā€™m crypto-curious and Iā€™m at the edge of my seat, waiting for the utilities to come about so that I can use them in my everyday life,ā€ Grenier said.

The actor and environmentalist is joined in the panel discussion by TAAL Distributed Information Technologies COO Lars Jorgensen, Compute North Co-Founder and CEO Dave Perrill, MNP Partner Hassan Quresh, nChain CTO and BSV Infrastructure Team Technical Director Steve Shadders, and Gray Wolf Analytics Inc. President and Chair Dr. Dhirendra Shukla.

It might be said that Grenier supporting Bitcoin may be detrimental to his environmental goals as it has been recently castigated by the media for Bitcoin miningā€™s high electricity consumption that is viewed as energy wastage. However, Grenierā€™s presence in the blockchain conference only proves that he has found a green Bitcoin he can support and use.

ā€œI think people that want to dismiss crypto as being unsustainable donā€™t fully understand the complexity of the opportunity that crypto has for society across the board. Itā€™s not just about mining efficiency, itā€™s also about how itā€™s going to improve every industry,ā€ Grenier stated.

There must be a clear distinction that there are different implementations of Bitcoin, and BTC is the one Tesla CEO Elon Musk declared as unsustainable and not environmentally friendly. People should also be made aware of the crucial differences between BTC, which is what many recognize as the original Bitcoin, and BSV, the real Bitcoin that has stayed committed to Satoshi Nakamotoā€™s vision for Bitcoin.

ā€œThere are actually huge benefits to using Bitcoin, and thatā€™s what justifies the energy cost. No one argues that we shouldnā€™t burn energy to run a hospital because itā€™s obvious what the benefit of that is and itā€™s obvious what would happen if you try to run a hospital without energy input. Bitcoin provides utility in ways that we havenā€™t even imagined just yet,ā€ Shadders pointed out.

ā€œFirstly, itā€™s got to be able to scale, so that people can actually use that utility in a way thatā€™s meaningful to society. Secondly, the use cases need to be identified and put in front of people in a way thatā€™s easy for them to see the benefit,ā€ Shadders added.

While BTC has maintained its 1MB data block limits and low throughput of just seven transactions per second (tps) due to its inability to scale its base layerā€™sā€”the blockchainā€”BSV has restored the original Bitcoin protocol and unlocked unlimited scaling, which translates to continuous growth in block sizes and throughput.

In fact, a 2GB block has already been mined on the BSV blockchain and throughput will soon be increased to 50,000 tpsā€”a number that rivals the VISA networkā€™s capacity. Hundreds of developers are also currently building or have already successfully launched their applications and platforms on the BSV blockchain, providing utility and benefits across many different industries. And it is in this utility that lies the true reason why BSV is the green Bitcoinā€”the benefits more than cancel out the high energy consumption.
