Despite decreases in air travel because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the first two weeks of August in 2020 saw about 12 million long-distance road trips each day.

You might be thinking about taking some summer road trips yourself. Check out this list of road trips you can take on your motorcycle this summer, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience.

1. The California Pacific Coast Highway

The perfect way to drive across the country is by starting on the Pacific Coast Highway. This road, also called Route #1, takes you along most of the coastline in California.

Not only will you get beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean but you’ll also get to witness some of the most spectacular beach sunsets and sunrises you’ll ever see.

There are a lot of great towns along this coast if you want to make a few stops. Places like Big Sur, Santa Barbara, and Montecito are great places to enjoy great food and the beautiful views nature has to offer.

2. The Peak to Peak Highway in Colorado

Your next motorcycle trip should include driving on the Peak to Peak Highway in Colorado. This trip might be a bit shorter if you live in the area, the highway is only 60 miles.

This highway has a lot of curves but you’ll enjoy some of the breathtaking views. The highway passes right through the Rocky Mountain National Park so you’ll get to see some magnificent forests.

You might also catch a glimpse of the moose native to the area.

3. The Beartooth Highway

If you’re interested in taking other summer trips on your motorcycle you should consider heading out to the Beartooth Highway. The route starts in Red Lodge, Montana and ends at Beartooth Pass near the border with Wyoming.

The route can take you to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park if you want to finish your trip hiking through one of the most beautiful national parks in the country.

4. The Black Hills of South Dakota

Another motorcycle road trip you can take is through the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Needles Highway will take you right through the center of these hills.

Many other bikers ride this route. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August attracts riders from around the country. You’ll have a great time riding through both the Iron Creek and Needles Eye Tunnels.

5. Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway route is about 469 miles long. It’ll lead you through the Great Smoky Mountains in Virginia and Shenandoah National Park in North Carolina too.

You’ll get to see some of the most spectacular views of the mountains during this trip but drive with caution as there are many curves on this route. If you happen to get into a motorcycle accident while on the road, make sure you know what to do to get yourself to safety.
