Leather is the most common material used for making Apple Watch Series 6 bands and bands for wrist watches by all brands.

Leather

The earliest bands for wrist watches were made using leather. Leather for making bands is obtained from the skin of animals including sheep, pigs, goats and cows. Soldiers during World War 1 used to wear watches with leather bands. Those watches were known as ‘trench’ watches. Resilient and durable leather was ideal for bands for those watches. This material also has a rugged aesthetic.

When you want to buy Apple Watch bands in New Zealand, consider the pros and cons of all options. If you want vintage looks, shop leather bands for Apple Watch. Leather bands are stylish and comfortable. However, make sure that your leather band is not exposed to water. Too much exposure to the sun is also not safe for a leather band. This can deform the surface of the band.

Calfskin

Calfskin leather is the most used leather for making wrist watch bands. It can be with or without stitching. This leather also emulates the texture of snake or crocodile leather. Nubuck is top-grain cattle leather. The word nubuck is a combination of two words – ‘new’ and ‘buck’. Nubuck means new skin. It is expensive leather known for velvety and soft surfaces. However, nubuck leather is less durable as it gets scratched very easily.

Alligator Leather

Crocodile or alligator skin is used for making exotic leathers. It is also very expensive leather. This is the reason why it is used for making bands for high-end watches. Alligator straps are more durable, flexible, smoother and softer than calfskin. Alligator leather is supplier than crocodile leather. It also ages better. This is the reason why it is more expensive than crocodile leather. This leather comes from animals raised in captivity.

Kudu Leather

The eponymous antelope is the source of this type of leather. It is hard wearing and resilient leather. It also ages well. Africa is overpopulated with this animal. Therefore, hunting is done to control this overpopulation.

Vegan Leather

If you are an animal lover and want to wear leather straps, vegan or faux leather is the best option for you. It is made using polyurethane (PU) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

Leather bands are classic and most stylish bands for Apple Watch. Make sure that it is not exposed to water.
