Most photographers enjoy Ohio as it has amazing waterfront scenery to the north, stunning hills to the south, and a beautiful farmland in between. The norther region is bordered by the famous Lake Erie and small cottage towns. The serene landscape of Put-in-Bay and other Lake Erie Islands are great places you can photograph. 

Amish Country

Holmes County’s rolling hills of Amish in Ohio and the simple lifestyle of those here are peaceful. In Amish land, the rear roads have scenes of horses and buggies that share the roads with cars, and the clotheslines dry. The benefit of shooting in the country of Amish is that there is no need for an agenda. Only travel one way, and there are opportunities.

Magee Marsh

Northwesterly Ohio’s Magee Marsh is one of America’s top birding destinations. On the banks of Lake Erie, the wildlife area is a stop for bird migration in the spring. There are also warblers and other birds in the marsh, such as the scarlet tanager and other animals, including bald eagles.

Put-in-Bay

Put-in-Bay offers a wide variety of attractions. Getting to the island is part of the adventure too. You can take a ferry or flight to Put-in-Bay Township, and either option gives you a chance to take stunning photographs. Once on the island, you can choose golf cart rentals, bike rentals, or taxi services to move from one attraction site to another. 

The township features outstanding architecture. You can take photographs of stunning monuments, lighthouses, resorts, and classy Put-in-Bay hotels. Also, you can photograph events at Put-in-Bay, automobile activities, boats, and more. You will have endless opportunities to take photographs during your vacation in Lake Erie Islands. 

Hocking hills

One of the most picturesque parts of the Ohio state is the Hocking Hills region located in Southern Ohio. Old Man’s Cave trails give so many pictures, from waterfalls to the rugged calcareous cliffs and cellars. Ash Cave, Cantwell Cliff, and Conkles Hollow State Nature Reserve are all State Park scenic areas.

Covered Bridges

Ohio contains more than 100 historic covered bridges, many of which are used for colorful pictures. Drive through the Ashtabula County Covered Bridges Byway in northern Ohio to over 19 of them in the scenic countryside.

Ohio Countryside

Ohio’s picturesque scenery is vibrant and quiet, with its red dairy farms against the green countryside and the dawn rising. Dusk gives life to the farmers as the sun sets on Ohio’s farming life with golden colors.

Marblehead Lighthouse

Located on the northern Ohio shores of Lake Erie, the Marblehead Lighthouse is among the most iconic structures to photograph within the state. This place usually has a backdrop of choppy waters that crashes along the rocky shoreline behind the lighthouse.

Roebling suspension bridge

Cincinnati’s iconic Roebling Suspension Bridge is as majestic in the day as it is lit at night. It was the oldest suspension bridge globally until the iconic Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1866 and allowed pedestrians and cars to cross the Ohio River into Kentucky.

Ohio Caverns

Ohio Caverns are the highest in Delaware, with thousands of stalagmites and stalactites below the ground and other crystal formations. All year long, the caves stay consistent at 54 degrees, even at 103 feet below the surface. The caverns are open.

Schnormeier Gardens

In the Schnormeier Gardens in Gambier, Central Ohio, the set of Chinese and Japanese gardens consists of 10 lakes, waterfalls, rivers, and wooded landscapes. The fifty acres of gardens are lined with sculptures, sits, and bridges.

Cliffton Mill

The charming Clifton Mill is a working, water-conserving grist mill on the Little Miami River in Clifton just outside Yellow Springs. On holidays, thousands of lights and antique holiday shows are decorated for Clifton Mill.
